Any marketing strategy success is achieved through hard work. In other words, the ability to adapt and evolve. To clarify, there’s no such thing as ‘old dogs can’t learn new tricks’ when it comes to marketing. You must, even if you don’t want to.
In short, it doesn’t matter whether you’re promoting a book, an established medical practice, or a home-based business. Your marketing strategy is essential. Above all, you must continue to grow, learn, adapt and evolve along with society’s expectations when it comes to your product or service.
Therefore, my blog for the week offers a few tips on staying current with your marketing and promotion endeavors in 2020.
Don’t ignore blogging for marketing strategy success
For instance, long-form blogs and content continue to increase visibility and SEO ranking. Even so, don’t neglect quality over quantity. Accordingly, make your blogs count. Whether you’re promoting a new book, trying to attract new clients, or jump-start a new business, your target audience needs to find you.
Therefore, opt for scheduling regular blog posts to give your readers something to look forward to. In addition, consistency makes search engines happy. Furthermore, use your blog to educate, connect, and fulfill their need to know more about you and your product or service.
If you haven’t made the leap, dive in to social media
In the same vein, take advantage of social media to enhance marketing strategy options. I know most people either love or hate social media channels like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or Pinterest. Of course, there are more (over 50 in fact). However, for business marketing of any kind, choose the channels that most cater to your audience and goals.
Incidentally, over 2.5 billion people use social media for sharing, shopping, searching, and feedback. Soon, those numbers will increase to over 3 billion. Take the time to research and choose the top 2-3 channels for your business objectives. For example:
- Do you want to increase awareness of your brand/service?
- Need more leads?
- Which channels do your competitors use?
- Do you want to focus on image/video/editorial content?
For instance, these are questions you should ask yourself about marketing and promotion when it comes to choices. It’s counterintuitive to attempt to engage more than a few social media outlets by yourself. Remember what the Grail Knight said in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade… “Choose wisely.”
However, focus on quality. Joanna Carter, writing for Smart Insights, cautions that nearly 30% of people have deleted some social media from their feeds due to being ‘overwhelmed’ by it.( “Social media marketing trends 2020”) Remember: quality over quantity.
Connect
As she states in her article for Inc., writer Tanya Hall, CEO of Greenleaf Book Group, encourages every person or entity to make that all-so-important connection with your potential customers.
Namely, you want your customers to feel that they are important to you. Whether you’re a newly published author or the president of a corporation, you need to make connections with your current and future customers.
